Manchester United yesterday cruised to victory over title rivals Chelsea in the seasons curtain raiser at Wembley with a 3-1 victory. Goals from Atonio Valencia, Dimitar Berbatov and new boy Javier 'chicharito' Hernandez saw the reds lift the shield for the second time in 3 years. over 80,000 fans saw the game in the sunshine and it was the red half of Wembley that came home happy. United played well for 90 minutes and this will act as a good stepping stone and confidence booster to take United in to next weeks fixture against Newcastle.
